The first of three Illustro Obscurum art books by illustrator Michael Bukowski

The ancient myths bears their fangs in this illustrated book by artist Michael Bukowski. As a child, the artist read the works of H.P. Lovecraft and discovered how that weird fiction author name-dropped a veritable who's who of gods and creatures from ancient folklore. Before long, Bukowski began sketching how he imagined Apollo and Circe as frightening entities. This book features mythology from around the globe.

"I love the challenge of visually depicting pretty outlandish mythical creatures. Scylla or Tornasuk or Humbaba have such bizarre disparate elements that it's really fun trying to organically tie them all together in a single creature."

Paperback, 96 pages, featuring full-color art throughout!

Bukowski may be best known for his drawings of Lovecraftian creatures and the unsettling monsters of other early 20th century horror authors. A graduate of the University of the Arts, he lives in Philadelphia.
